Lecture

On 5th of June 2018 project leader Dr Ivana Vinković Vrček held a lecture at the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health. The lecture was titled “Safety in the field of nanomedicine”.

In the lecture she discussed the latest developments and concerns in nanotoxicology and introduced the area of research of the NanoFaceS project.

Short Term Scientific Mission in Tallinn

In collaboration with National Institute for Chemical Physics and Biophysics in Tallinn, Estonia, Krunoslav Ilić participated in a Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) titled „Dissolution-driven environmental effects of antimicrobial coatings“ as part of COST Action CA15114 – Anti-Microbial Coating Innovations to prevent infectious diseases (AMICI). The STSM was hosted by Laboratory of Environmental Toxicology of the Institute, from April 2nd to April 28th.

Conference lecture

From 18th to 21st of April 2018, 10th Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries (CTDC10) & 12th Congress of the Serbian Society of Toxicology (12th SCT) were held in Belgrade, Serbia.

Dr Ivana Vinković Vrček participated in the congress with an invited lecture titled „Safe-by-design Approach for Development and Use of Antimicrobial Coatings“.

Conference

Project leader Dr Ivana Vinković Vrček and PhD student Barbara Pem participated in the spring school and conference “2nd Conference and Spring School on Properties, Design and Applications of Upconversion Nanomaterials”, held in Valencia, Spain from 2. to 6. 4. 2018.  Dr. Vinković Vrček held a lecture titled ” Challenges in safety evaluation of upconverting nanoparticles: facing with interferences”. A scientific poster under the title “Assessing interferences of upconverting nanoparticles with in vitro toxicity assays” was presented at the conference.

Workshop on microscopy of nanomaterials

Project associates participated in the workshop “Advanced microscopy of nanomaterials and their interactions with living systems”, organized in Ljubljana, Slovenia on the 19th and 20th of March 2018. The school comprised tutorials and hand-on training and was aimed at PhD students and Postdoctoral researches.

2nd Nanomedicine-Austria Day

Project associates attended the 2nd Nanomedicine-Austria Day, held on the 27th of February in Graz, with the aim of exchanging ideas and presenting latest achievements in the field of nanomedicine. The symposium included the 8th BioNanoNet Association General Assembly, where project leader Dr Ivana Vinković Vrček presented the project NanoFaceS.

Guest Lecture

Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health hosted professor Daniel Horak from the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, on February 20th 2018. Prof. Horak held a lecture titled “Multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles for nanomedicine: Small, smart and safe“.

Lecture on Nanotoxicology

On December 2017 and January 12th 2018, Dr. Ivana Vinković Vrček held a lecture entitled “Nanotoxicology” at the meeting for professionals in the healthcare education organised by the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education and hosted by the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health. During this lecture, Dr. Vinković Vrček briefly presented research project NanoFaceS.

Guest lecture

Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health hosted prof. Vladimir M. Mirsky from Institute of Nanobiotechnology, Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus – Senftenberg, Germany, from January 18th to January 22nd, as a part of NanoFaces project. Prof. Mirsky gave an open lecture titled “Ultrasensitive detection, quantification and identification of nanoparticles” on January 21st.
