Our Team Leader Ivana Vinković Vrček, became a recipient of the first national “For Women in Science” scholarship program in 2007: https://www.facebook.com/zazeneuznanosti/photos/a.149260475116389/149260481783055/?_rdr “This recognition gave me the opportunity to become a role model as a woman scientist, while also supporting my future scientific work. What particularly concerns me is the environmental crisis we are living through, and I am deeply convinced that this crisis has been brought about by modern science, which is fundamentally ‘male’ and driven primarily by the pursuit of power. If a woman acts and thinks in accordance with her nature, she places caring for others and cooperation higher on her scale of values than the desire for power. This program can enable women scientists to make their full contribution to human society as women: to break free from the imposed paradigm of male ways of thinking and to demonstrate how women can function in science and society. The paradigm of ‘women in science’ is one possible way of correcting today’s science, and it is important both for the global community as a whole and for Croatian society.”
